This article will explain how you can prevent a pet owner's appointment confirmation email from going to spam
Why would our email confirmation go into spam?
Vetstoria partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) uses Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) to send confirmation emails to pet owners for the booking service on behalf of the specified 'Outbound email address' in your Vetstoria account (this can be found by navigating to Settings => Branches/Sites => Outbound Email).
Upon receiving an email, the recipient's email agent performs a security check to authenticate the validity of the sender's email agent as the domain could be spoofed by spammers (i.e. emails appear to come from your domain). Failing to validate will result in the email going to spam.
What is SPF ?
Sender Policy Framework (SPF) is an email authentication technique which prevents spammers from sending emails on behalf of your domain and allows the ability to specify which email servers are permitted to send emails on behalf of you.
By adding an SPF record to your hosted domain (For example, YourBusiness.com), it assures the recipient on how trustworthy is the origin of an email.
How do you add an SPF record?
Following are the instructions for adding an SPF record onto the DNS records of the domain and should be done by the technical contact managing the domain.
If your domain doesn't have an existing SPF record, publish a TXT record with the following value. The name of the record can be blank or @, depending on your DNS service.
"v=spf1 include:amazonses.com ~all"
If your domain already has an SPF record, you can add the following statement:
include:amazonses.com
