How does a pet owner pre-authorize payment?

Modified on Sun, 21 Aug 2022 at 04:37 PM

This article will explain the steps taken by the pet owner to pre-authorise payment during the booking process.

Attention:

An appointment type becomes eligible for pre-authorization if;
  1. You can define an appointment fee (equal to or above 10) in the ‘Appointment Fee’ field.
  2. Enable the ‘Request Payment’ toggle on the appointment type for which you need to collect the payment online.
(Note: the appointment fees can be defined up to two decimal places).

Note:

The pre-authorisation process depends on the duration between the Date of the Appointment and the Date the appointment was booked

If this duration is less than or equal to 5 days:

  1. Upon confirmation of the appointment, the pet owner will be directed to a page indicating the fee and an option to pre-authorise the payment.
    1
  2. When the pet owner, clicks on Pre-authorise payment, they will be redirected to a screen where they are asked to pre-authorize a certain amount by entering the credit card details. (This amount is defined by the clinic-)
    2
  3. Once the pet owner confirms the pre-authorization, they will be directed to the following screen which confirms that the payment has been pre-authorised successfully.
    3

If the duration is greater than 5 days:

  1. On this occasion, when the booking is made the pet owner will not be shown a ‘Pre-authorize Payment’ button on the ‘Appointment Booked’ screen.
  2. The Appointment confirmation email will indicate that the pet owner will receive another email 5 days prior to their appointment to ‘pre-authorize’ the appointment fee.
  3. This email which is called ‘Pre-authorization Request Email’ will have a link for the pet owner to pre-authorise their account.
